Lauric Mahé-Stephenson (b. 1998) is a French-British visual artist working across moving image, photography, writing, and digital painting. His works offer visually compelling worlds loaded with a cinematographic atmosphere, merging the theatrical with a sense of fantasy. Alert and committed, his pieces pay homage to the iconographic history of the visual arts whilst developing new pathways of expression that allow for inclusive narratives to emerge.

His independent practice is defined by a liberated sense of gender and sexuality. Combining different mediums, he develops and expands complex narratives that offer a varied and textured world for audiences to delve in. Much of his work engages with the notion of monstrosity and offers an alternative reading of it as an empowering representation of queer identity and sexuality ; thus, reversing societal binaries and exploring the possibilities of limitless bodies.

Lauric’s commercial projects involve a close collaboration with the creatives involved whilst offering a distinctive visual signature to the pieces. His photographic and filmic works are developed simultaneously and offer an aesthetic continuity that complements the formal qualities of each medium.
